Audio book live

I am excited to announce that The Never-Dying Man has now been released as an audio book. This means that both Book 1 of The Wolves of Vimar (The Wolf Pack) and Book 2, (The Never-Dying Man) are both available as audio books.

Book 3 (Wolf Moon) is not yet scheduled for release as an audio book, but I hope it won’t be too long.

I am currently doing NaNoWriMo and working on Book 4, Immortal’s Death. I hope to have it ready for the publisher by the beginning of 2022.

For those of you who are not writers, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. It was begun by a couple of writers in the US who challenged each other to write a novel (50,000 words) during the 30 days of November.

The idea took off, and now it is an international event, with many authors trying beat this challenge.

Currently I am well behind where I should be. Things keep cropping up and derailing me. I doubt if I’ll finish the 50,000 words. (This is the lowest number of words deemed to make a novel.)

With regard to the audio book, I have some codes for free copies. If you would like one. PM me: vivienne.sang@gmail.com telling me if you are in the US or the UK as the codes are different.

The Wolves of Vimar books are available as ebooks, but also in a variety of other formats, including paperback, hardback and large print.

If you wish to buy, you can click on the book cover in the sidebar or the titles in this post, to take you to Amazon where you are, and then pick the format you wish.

A catch up on my #writing and an #offer.

I’ve been working on both the next book of The Wolves of Vimar series. It’s book 4, and will be called Immortal’s Death.

It will follow on after the friends, who call themselves Wolf, have discovered disquieting things about the Master of Erian and his designs on the land of Grosmer.

Duke Larrin of Sendolina has been missing, and all contact with Sendolina lost. The friends, who call themselves Wolf, send the little dragonet, Muldee, to find out what has happened.

When he returns with the news that Duke Larrin has been imprisoned in his own castle, five of them set off to rescue him.

Meanwhile, there have been riots in Hambara, and Thadora is dispached to find out what is happening. She finds the populace starving because there are no jobs, the richer people, who, by and large provide the jobs, having left in the riots.

I am about half-way through at the moment, and hope to get it finished in the next few months, Then I need to submit it to Next Chapter. It will be some time before it’s released.

In the meantime, I’ve submitted a prequel to the publisher, and am waiting for the next step. It’s the story of the parents of Carthinal, the protagonist in The Wolves of Vimar. I am looking forward to that being released, but as yet have no idea when that will be. I’ve also finished the story of Carthinal’s early life. Just a bit more editing, then I’ll submit that to Next Chapter.

Wolf Moon, Book 3, will be FREE in ebook format from tomorrow, 8th February until Wednesday 12th February. Get your copy soon or you’ll miss the opportunity. If you’ve not read the first two books, you can buy them at the same time by clicking on the covers in the sidebar.

Thank you for reading. Please add a comment in the comments box.

The Wolf pack is Free

From tomorrow, Book 1 of The Wolves of Vimar is FREE until 28th December.

This fantasy tale brings together a group of disparate people. They set off on a quest to find the long, lost sword of the legendary king, Sauvern, in response to a prophecy found in an ancient book.

They meet with dire adventures on the way, and come near to death, only to be rescued by unexpected sources.

On the journey they each have to face their greatest fears and not one of them returns unchanged.

But they learn that, despite their different backgrounds, what really matters is friendship and loyalty.

The Day on Vimar. How the people of that world break up the day.

ulsan-442399_1920

I’ve often wondered why we start the day in the middle of the night, and the year at a date that seems rather random.

Let’s think about the day first.

To me, it would seem obvious that the day begins when the sun rises. Or, I suppose you could say it ends when the sun sets, which would mean the next day begins at either sunrise or sunset. But why did someone—who?—decide the middle of the hours of darkness was a good idea? Anyway, midnight isn’t the middle of the hours of darkness all the year round, anyway.

Now if we say the day begins at sunrise, I can see that would be a problem, especially for the modern world. That can be solved by saying the day begins at the time of dawn on the equinoxes. That is round about 6am.

When I devised my world of Vimar for my Wolves of Vimar Series, I had to decide on how the people would break up their day. This is a totally different world from Earth, although, for simplicity’s sake, I still use hours and minutes. The people on Vimar hold the number six as sacred and all multiples of six also have power. Thus 60 minutes in an hour, and 24 hours in a day makes sense.

So, on Vimar, the day begins at what we would call 06:00 or 6am. That to them would be 00:00. They begin counting from there. 7am would be 01:00. 10am would be 04:00. What we call midday, to someone on Vimar would be 06:00.

They also use the 24 hour clock.

If a person wanted to have a meeting at, say, 10am, by our standard, they would say, “I’ll meet you at the fourth hour.”

I don’t use the time very much in the book, but I thought it would be essential in my world building to try to think about this.

I will go into the year on the third Tuesday of next month,

If you want to read more, and about Carthinal and his friends and their adventures on the world of Vimar, you can buy the first 3 books by clicking on the covers in the sidebar. I am serialising Carthinal’s early life on the first Tuesday of every month.

Book Launch

Wolf Moon, Book 3 in The Wolves of Vimar series, is ready for publishing. Not sure of the actual date, but I’ve just had the word from the Publisher that they can go ahead just as soon as I approve the copies.

Wolf-Moon-Promo-Paperback

I’m going to do that asap. I need to just check them first. As soon as the book is on sale, I’ll let you know.

This book follows the half of Wolf who were not captured and taken to Frelli, the capitol of Erian. They have some exciting times before they get back to Grosmer to warn of the preparations for war that are happening in Erian.

Re-launch of The Never-Dying Man

Today I’m announcing the imminent re-launch of The Never-Dying Man, Book 2 of The Wolves of Vimar Series.

As with The Wolf Pack, there have been a few changes. This is because of the changes I made in The Wolf Pack. I’m afraid some things would not have made sense without them, due to things left out of the first book in the revision.

Anyway, it is now ready for the re-launch. I’ve not been told yet just when it’ll be on sale, but hopefully not too long. I hope not more than a week.

I hope you like the cover. Leave any comments about it under the comments tab please,

Sorry this is a bit late, and rather short, but I’ve had a ‘procedure’ done in hospital and had to stay in overnight, unexpectedly. It should have been a 1 day thing but turned into 2 days. Now I’m laid up with a bad back. I think it’s from lying on a hard surface and being unable to move for a couple of days, firstly during the 2 hour procedure and 1 hour after it, then because I was wired up to a variety of machines.

I hope to be back to normal by next week.
